What does Father Christmas write about in this letter?
"Just Outside Your House" kicks off with Father Christmas explaining that he has already been inside to deliver the gifts. He writes: "I've already been in to leave you your presents and I was pleased to see that you were fast asleep, because my reindeer can tell if children are awake and they get very nervous and want to fly away!"
He then goes on to tell your child a bit about his life in the North Pole. You'll get to hear why he called one of his reindeer "Blitzen" and all about his favourite fairy cook, who at this moment is back at the North Pole, busily preparing Christmas dinner for all the helpers. Father Christmas is very much looking forward to it, because when he left home earlier this evening, the house was already full of delicious smells!
The letter ends because Father Christmas and his reindeer must take off again and deliver some more gifts, but before he goes he writes: "Enjoy all your presents and give my love to your family and friends!"
In short, this letter is less like a story and more like chatty, jovial news from an old friend. While this letter is suitable for any boy and girl, we think it's a particularly lovely choice as a first letter or for a youngish child.
Anything else it might be useful to know?
This letter should be opened and read on Christmas Day. It's got quite spidery, higgledy piggledy handwriting - so young children will need an adult or older sibling to read it out. Also, it is written as though Father Christmas is outside the recipient's house, so it would not be a good choice for a child who is spending Christmas away from home.
What does the letter actually look like?
Much like the image above, but larger and clearer. Letters are a little bit smaller than A4 in size. They are all full colour and on the back is a decorative, Christmassy design. If you choose to add a personal PS to this letter, it will be done using a beautiful font of Father Christmas's curly handwriting.
Upon creating these letters, what Father Christmas wanted was to make them look as magical as possible - and we believe he has done a good job.
How is the letter packaged?
This letter is gently folded, tied with a ribbon, and placed in a colourful envelope bearing your child's name. The whole thing is then placed in a plain envelope for posting, addressed to a parent or guardian. This is so that if there are small eyes around when it arrives - it looks like an ordinary piece of mail. Tip: Parents tell us that they like to leave Christmas Morning letters under the Christmas tree, as if Father Christmas has left it there with the presents.
