Your privacy is important to us. Here's what you need to know...

This page is here to help you understand your privacy rights.  Read on to find out how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit this website:  www.rooftoppost.co.uk. You will also find information about our Terms and Conditions, which govern the use of this website. In a nutshell, the following topics are covered:

PRIVACY & SECURITY

THE ROOFTOP POST PRIVACY COMMITMENT:

Your privacy is really important to us. This notice is here to let you know what information we collect about you, how we store it and how you can manage it. We have updated our practices to comply with GDPR. If you have any questions, you can always drop us a line at:

HERE ARE THE TYPES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE SHARE IT:

OPT-IN MAILING LIST:

  • If you decide to join our mailing list, we usually collect your first name, surname and email address. You will not be added without your explicit permission and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • We use MailChimp to store mailing lists securely and send newsletters. MailChimp are committed to GDPR compliance. You can unsubscribe at any time.

COOKIES:

Cookies are data files placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information, visit https://www.allaboutcookies.org/.

To find out how this website uses cookies in detail, please visit our dedicated Cookie Policy page. Because we participate in Google AdSense and your personal data may be used for personalisation of ads, please read Google's Privacy and Terms.

You may also see a separate "Cookies" link provided by Google at the bottom of our webpages. This link leads to Google's own cookie policy, which explains how Google uses cookies for advertising and analytics purposes. Our cookie policy, linked above, covers all other cookies and tracking technologies used on this site.

  • We use cookies to perform tasks such as connecting to social networks and analysing our traffic. Examples include Facebook and Google Analytics cookies.
  • EU visitors will be asked for cookie consent on first visit. You can change your cookie settings at any time.
  • We participate in Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits. Learn more at Google's partner sites page.
  • We also use Google Analytics. You can opt-out via the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

LOG FILES & WEB BEACONS:

When you visit our website, we automatically collect information including your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some cookies. We also record the pages you view, referring websites, and how you interact with the site.
  • Log files track actions occurring on our site and collect IP address, browser type, ISP, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • Web beacons, tags, and pixels are electronic files used to record browsing information.

AWStats and Long-Term Traffic Analysis:

We use AWStats software to analyse server log files so we can understand how visitors use our website over time. This software records information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, referring websites, and the date and time of your visit. We keep this information for multiple years because our key visitor seasons (Christmas and Easter) occur once a year, and we need several years’ worth of data to compare seasonal performance and make informed decisions about our site.

This information is stored securely, is accessible only to us, and is used solely for aggregated traffic analysis. Our lawful basis for processing this data is our legitimate interest in running and improving our website. We do not use this information to personally profile visitors. We review the necessity of retaining historical AWStats data every 3–5 years.

DO NOT TRACK:

We do not alter our website’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

USE AND STORAGE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION IN EMAILS OR OTHER CORRESPONDENCE:

We try not to collect personally identifiable information about you wherever possible but if you email us and tell us your name and email address, we will not share that, or any other information you give us, with outside parties unless you specifically request us to do so.

We keep certain information about people who email, telephone or write to us in a database. This can include your name, telephone number and/or email address. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure this information, as well as any information we collect online. We constantly attempt to stop any unauthorised access and to maintain data accuracy.

All personal data is only kept long enough for it to be processed for its stated purpose.

HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA:

If we have any personal information that you have given us yourself, such as in an email, we keep it for the time we are in contact with you and three months beyond that. This is to ensure that any ongoing communication/conversation we have with you is fully concluded. After that period, we will destroy your data.

DATA BREACH PROCEDURES WE HAVE IN PLACE:

If there’s a data breach and we have your email, we will let you know straight away. However, we don’t normally collect emails (unless you contact us). Therefore, if we experience a data breach and we don't have your email, we'll put a notice up on our site, our Facebook page and a post on Twitter to let our users know.

SHARING DATA FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PURPOSES:

We may share your personal information if we are asked to comply with applicable laws and regulations, for example to respond to a search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

YOUR RIGHTS OVER YOUR DATA:

If you are a European or UK citizen and you want to know what information we have about you, you have the right to ask us to supply it. We are also happy to correct it or delete it — and you have the right to ask us to do that too. You also have the right to object to our processing where we rely on legitimate interests. If you object, we will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue. Please be aware that we might not actually have any data about you, as we regularly destroy any personal information we gather. To find out, just email us and we will get back to you within a few days:

Or write to us at: 2 St Mary's Square, Honley, West Yorkshire HD9 6BA.

IF YOU HAVE USED OUR ONLINE SHOP IN THE PAST:

  • Our online shop has been closed since December 2017.
  • If you have purchased letters from us in the past, rest assured that any data we had about you will have been deleted after 25th May 2018, in order to comply with GDPR.
