This gentle printable letter from Santa is written especially for children who may find the festive season overwhelming, unpredictable, or just too loud. In plain, calming language, it lets a child know what will happen when Santa visits on Christmas Eve, so they can feel prepared.
Santa created it with autistic, sensory-sensitive, and neurodivergent children in mind, but of course it can be given to anyone.

A bit more about why Santa created this letter:
Unlike traditional “excited” Christmas letters, Santa wanted to write one that doesn’t assume a child is feeling jolly or enthusiastic. After all, we all have many emotions in the festive season, and none of us are the same.
Don’t get us wrong – we love letters that are full of excitement and surprises, but we also know they can be a bit much for some.
At Rooftop Post, we have neurodivergent children in the family who sometimes find the festive build-up overwhelming. So we asked Santa to create an alternative: a quieter kind of magic that recognises the needs of some autistic and neurodivergent children.
We hope this letter helps reassure children who feel unsure about Christmas, or who need more predictable language, or benefit from a Santa who doesn’t expect them to react in a certain way.
What exactly is in the letter?
In this letter:
-
Santa shares that he, too, sometimes finds Christmas busy and needs quiet.
-
He reassures the child that his visit will be “nice and calm” and that the presents will be left in the child’s “preferred place”.
-
He reminds the child that there’s nothing they need to worry about doing.
-
He offers encouragement without pressure — there’s no “be good” threat, no excitement demand or anything of that kind.
-
The tone is warm, kind, and softly magical
