Story Prompts:
If you’re a teacher, or perhaps a parent who wants to encourage your child to tell stories, you might like to use this picture of a wishful witch as a creative writing prompt. For example:
- What could this witch be thinking about? Why is she gazing at the mountains? Perhaps she is waiting for someone to arrive, a long, lost friend perhaps. Are they coming by a winding mountain path or does she expect to see them at any moment, appearing between the mountain peaks on a broomstick?
- There’s a smiling face on the tree beside the witch, so perhaps it’s magic. Is it about to speak to her? And if so, what might it say? The bat and the tiny spider hanging from the tree might also be magical creatures with little voices of their own. Perhaps they, too, have something to say to the witch. Could it be a warning, or a well done for something she has achieved? Or perhaps they’re not a tree, a bat and a spider at all, but three friends who have been bewitched and are going to as the witch cast a healing spell and set them free?
